Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does this mean for you, the owner/operator of a service station in New Jersey?

A: This means that you are now allowed to remove all components of Stage II (at the dispenser) Vapor Recovery!

Q: How does this help or benefit me?

A:  This helps in a few ways.  Here are a few of the benefits you can expect to have by decommissioning your Stage II Vapor Recovery.

  • By removing vapor recovery hanging hardware (nozzle, hose, breakaway, etc.) and installing non-vapor recovery hanging hardware, you will increase your flow rate.  The amount of increase varies from site to site but we have found that, during some Decommissioning projects, flow rate has gone from 6.5 gpm to 12 gpm.
  • Another benefit is that the cost of the non-vapor recovery hanging hardware is much less expensive.  Beyond the one-year parts warranty that comes standard with your new hanging hardware, the cost of an entire hose package (nozzle, swivel, hose, breakaway, and whip hose) is typically less expensive than the cost of a vapor recovery nozzle alone.  This will save you money on maintenance and up-keep of your equipment.
  • Stage II Vapor Recovery components, such as a Vac Motor in a Wayne dispenser, fairly frequently.  After decommissioning your location, these parts/components are no longer used and will not be able to cause issues with your dispensers.  Again, this saves on the cost of maintenance and stops you from having dispensers/fueling points down for a period of time.
  • When it comes to compliance testing, you can expect to perform less individual tests.  For example, a site with Vac Assist vapor recovery will no longer have to have A/L testing performed.  This lowers your compliance costs.
